Interested in joining ROKD??? Here is what you need to know...

~What is ROKD?

ROKD stands for Republic of Korea Derby and is Korea's first all-female premier roller derby league. We are a network of skaters from all over Korea and are always looking for more. If you are a grizzled veteran or haven't skated in years, please feel free to join us as a skater, referee or active volunteer. Yes we do accept new skaters! Please see our links on the website to learn more about how roller derby is played.

~What kind of gear will I need?

Skaters:  You will need a pair of roller skates (quads), a helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads and a mouth guard.

Referees:  You may chose to use roller skates or inline skaters, a helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads and a whistle.

~Where can I purchase my gear?

Because roller skates are not readily available in South Korea we order online from our favorite roller derby store;  www.rollerderbydepot.com!  We like the selection of gear offered and they ship to South Korea. You can follow directions on our facebook ROKD(for skaters page) on how to order.

~What do I do once I have my gear?

Once you have your gear and have attended 50% of practice for a 1 month period, you are officially a derby skater. This means you may register to join our public forum: ROKDerby.freeforums.org.  You may also come up with a derby name if you chose and send your name to the ‘derby names registration’ on our forum to be submitted to the national derby roster.  This policy is subject to change.

~When are practices?

We have practices scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays in a variety of locations.  Please see the link to our calendar to check the schedule.  You may join us even if you have not received your gear yet.
In order to improve your game we recommend you attend as many practices as possible.  Also we recommend you workout at least 3-4 times during the week on your own.  Remember roller derby is a contact sport that requires you to be strong and in shape to minimize injury.

~What if I do not want to skater, but am interested in volunteering?

We would love your help!  There are many non-skating responsibilities and jobs you can help us with.  If you are interested in helping us out, just let us know and if you have a special talent or specialty i.e. photography, marketing, etc. let us know.
